The Family-Friendly Festivals on my Radar

As someone who’s been camping every year of my life, it’s probably quite difficult to believe that I’ve never been to a festival. Not once. No wild weekends as a teenager at V Festival. No jumping in muddy puddles at Glastonbury. And no late night music sessions under the stars at Bestival. I didn’t used to think they were ‘for me’. I’m not much of a party animal, and from what I knew of music festivals, they were loud, expensive, alcohol fueled all-night parties without the ability to shower, and nothing about that sounded appealing to me. But as I’ve gotten older (and some would argue wiser), I’ve realised those aren’t the only type of music festival around. There are literally festivals to suit all tastes, styles and interests, and it’s definitely time to experience one for myself. Here are some family-friendly festivals I’ve got my eyes on.

Why Go Camping with a Toddler?

    This is a sponsored post.

As someone who spent weeks every summer in a tent or caravan, I’m a huge believer in camping being one of the best family holidays you can go on. Especially as our lives become more technological and digital, it’s so good to get away from it all for a bit and reconnect with nature (and hopefully, each other!). Whenever I tell people we’re going away in the tent, I’m met with one of two reactions: 1) ‘Oh, that sounds amazing! What a wonderful weekend you’ll have.‘ or 2) ‘Really? Camping? Wouldn’t you rather, you know, just be at home?‘. read more

Kampa Paloma 5 AIR at the Caravan and Camping Show

Recently, we ventured to the NEC Birmingham in order to attend the Caravan and Camping Show. I was pretty excited to see so many of my favourite outdoors brands under one roof, and we couldn’t miss the opportunity to try and find a nice new tent for us. Not many shops have their tents out on display just yet, so knowing that we’d be able to browse the very best offerings from a large range of suppliers at the show, inspect them properly and know exactly what we were buying made heading to the exhibition an absolute no-brainer – and guess what? Our hunt was a success! We bought a tent! Knowing that we’re now ready to pitch up at a camp site the moment the weather turns towards summer is so blooming exciting, and I have so many holiday ideas planned!

    Our Family Tent Criteria

After borrowing our friends’ tent for our camping trips last year, we knew from experience what kind of thing we were looking for, and these were our criteria: read more

Our Family Camps – New Quay in Scrapbook Style

After building up to it for so long, our week’s camping in Wales has been and gone in a flash, and I can’t believe it’s been over a month since we went. Whilst I could probably write for pages and pages about everything that we did, the lessons we learned and the things we’d do differently next time, this is more a post for me just to write about the things I particularly want to remember and to share some of my favourite holiday snaps. I’m calling this a ‘Scrapbook Style’ post… it’s mainly going to be a collection of photos with a spattering of memories and captions. Let me know what you think!

Our Family Camps with our Personalised Blanket

Before we went on our first family camping trip, I was approached by All Personalised Blankets to see if I would be interested in reviewing one of their blankets. Straight away, I liked the idea of having something made that could be our family camping blanket – one that we could take on all our camping adventures. I had visions of us all snuggling underneath it around a campfire, drinking hot chocolate, toasting marshmallows and watching the stars… and whilst that didn’t happen in Wales, I’m still hopeful it’ll happen in the future!

5 Essentials for Camping with a Toddler

We survived! Our first camping trip with a toddler was fairly successful, I think. We all certainly had a memorable time and despite the Welsh weather doing it’s best to dampen our spirits, we powered through and made the most of the sunshine when we had it. Camping with a toddler wasn’t as stressful as I though it might be, and I think that’s partly down to some clever packing and remembering these handy items that helped us out. If you’re thinking of taking your toddler camping, I can’t recommend these five things enough.
